A close-knit team that continues to grow!

Meet two star players from the Hacon Container Modifications sales team: Jan and Laurent. These iron men are ready to make your container dreams come true. Jan has been working at Hacon for 12.5 years now. After 9 years of hands-on experience in modifying containers, he has been applying both theory and practical solutions for the past 3.5 years in his role as estimator/account manager. Laurent joined the team as an account manager on January 1, 2025. He is still learning the ropes at HCM. “But I already feel right at home,” says Laurent. “After six months, I can confidently say that this is a great job at a great company.

In addition to Jan and Laurent, the sales team is reinforced by Wojciech as a technical draughtsman. He plays an important role in visualizing customer requirements and solutions. Some customers are looking for the final look in advance, and in practice Wojciech provides accurate drawings. For active projects and future repeat orders. Joeri and Koen are also key members of this sales team. They form the management team, but occasionally they also sit down with customers to discuss their requirements. “We are different, but we complement each other well,” says Jan.We are quick to respond, consult frequently, and are always looking for the best solution for the customer!

No two days are the same at HCM

A day at the HCM office is anything but standard. Laurent explains: “No two days are the same, the possibilities are endless, and that's why the challenges are so great and the days fly by.” Despite the diversity of the office days, there is unity in their approach. Jan says: “We mainly focus on communication, mainly because we often have to implement unique container solutions where the customer's wishes are important.” Because the container market is so broad, the team has a wealth of knowledge. From simple racks to certified welding and load-bearing structures, no challenge is too great.

Requesting a modified container is a smooth process. It all starts with a request. Based on the request, we will always contact you about the modification work, either by email or telephone. Once your requirements have been identified, HCM will provide a quote. If this is accepted, Wojciech will start working on a working drawing, which, once approved, will be used by our engineers to manufacture the container. The customer can then visit us to inspect the container. Too busy for a viewing? Then it is also possible to receive a comprehensive photo report. Once everything has been approved, the container can be picked up or we can deliver it to an agreed location.

The biggest challenge facing Hacon Container Modifications

It's in the name, of course, but modifying containers and fulfilling customer requirements are often the biggest challenges the team faces. “It's important that what we agree on is actually carried out,” Laurent emphasizes. “That's why we always make clear drawings, which, once approved by the customer, form the basis for production. Communication remains key.” No two containers are the same. Even when a customer requests the same type of container twice within a certain period, various improvements have been made to this container in the meantime, so there are always new developments. “Our X-factor lies in asking questions and putting energy into a plan for simple use of the container for the customer,” says Jan. This means that the best solution is always chosen, regardless of whether it is the easiest option. This is different for every customer; it can be value for money, but it can also be about the layout in relation to the available space.

The future of HCM

HCM has already delivered several wonderful projects. For example, a showroom was recently created for Van Vulpen to showcase the green future. It features a sleek finish, LED screen, audio, video, and sunshade. Jan also says, “We are also currently making next-gen bar containers for The Zoo Events. They are already truly beautiful, and they are not even finished yet.”

Laurent is also proud of the projects he has delivered. Despite his relatively short career at HCM, he has already delivered many impressive containers: "We delivered a 20-foot workshop container for end customer Sulzer. It features workshop equipment from our partner Hoffmann Quality Tools, perforated walls on one side for hanging tools, and on the other side a 4-layer rack and sturdy hooks for hanging heavy tools, slings, and various hooks and eyes." Laurent adds: “Another project involves two 40-foot test/observation/canteen containers that we built for APM Terminals. The container is fully insulated, has three windows with roller shutters, electrical conduits, a separate canteen with kitchen unit, and a color that will make many orange hearts beat faster!” The projects can be admired on our social media, so keep an eye out for them!
