What is an offshore container?
An offshore container is not just any storage box. It is a specially designed and manufactured unit to withstand harsh offshore conditions. At sea, extreme weather conditions can take you by surprise. That's when you can rely on the quality of an offshore container. An offshore container is made of thicker steel and comes standard with a steel floor, so it won't collapse under the pressure of heavy waves or corrosion from salt water. At Hacon, the containers can be recognized by their extra-thick (often bright yellow) rim with lifting eyes.
From wind farms to oil platforms: no sea is too high
Offshore containers are used for virtually everything that happens at sea. Think, for example, of oil and gas exploration and wind farms. With our 10ft Offshore container or 20ft Offshore container, you can safely transport and store drilling equipment and spare parts at sea. And if you need even more space, we even have a high cube version available for all your offshore activities. In addition to storage and transport, offshore containers can also be used as workshops for maintenance, and we have various offshore reefers for cold storage. The proven qualities of an offshore container
Not every container is just any offshore container. The container must meet strict requirements. These include, of course, the standard norms and requirements of ISO, CSC, and EN 12079. In addition, we only use the globally recognized DNV 2.7-1 Standard. This essential standard guarantees proven quality and sustainability. These inspections take place every one to four years, enabling us to continue to guarantee the quality of our containers.
Everything can go in an offshore container, so modifications too?
Due to strict standards and requirements, you cannot simply ‘tinker’ with any offshore container. But we wouldn't be Hacon if we couldn't fit absolutely everything into a container. That's why we are happy to help you think through modifications and personalization options for your offshore container.
