Hacon highlights of 2024
Time has flown by. It seems like only yesterday that we shared the highlights of 2023 with you. But 2024 was also an exciting year full of wonderful moments and highlights. We are delighted to share these with you, because success and enjoyment are something we share together. Here is a brief overview of our year!
Hooray (x65) for Ronald de Vos
February 8, 1959, the day our director and owner of Hacon Containers was born. 65 years later, he was surprised by all his colleagues at Hacon. Ronald de Vos has been the driving force behind Hacon for many years, and we wanted to celebrate that in style. Several colleagues recorded heartwarming videos to put Ronald in the spotlight. Figuratively speaking, that is, because the weather let us down. But every cloud has a silver lining, because it meant that the specially made banners fluttered beautifully in the wind at the depot.
Of course, there was cake, which the entire office, including Ronald, thoroughly enjoyed. In short: a day filled with gratitude, celebration, and pride.
Vosstock Festival: a special edition of our annual family day
The annual family day is one of our favorite traditions. This year, on June 1, we organized the Vosstock Festival, a day dedicated entirely to enjoying each other's company and connecting. Live bands created a great atmosphere, and our DJ played one great record after another. We left nothing to chance when it came to the culinary aspect: from delicious food trucks to artisanal drinks, everything was taken care of down to the last detail.
The activities made the festival complete. Children had a great time on bouncy castles, in the face painting corner, or at a graffiti workshop, while colleagues and family members enjoyed themselves at the green screen photo studio. It was a day to remember, full of relaxation and happy moments together.
Summer barbecue at HCM
We also had a great event on Moezelweg last summer. During the HCM BBQ, colleagues and partners got together for, you guessed it, a fun summer barbecue. Despite the disappointing weather, we had a great time in the workshop where all our modifications are carried out. Of course, our bar containers were there and we watched the European Football Championship together.
New captains at the helm
On July 1, a new chapter began for Hacon Containers and Hacon Container Modifications with the appointment of not one, but two new directors.
Frank van Buren, director at Hacon Containers
It had been unofficial for some time, but since July 1, Frank van Buren has been officially appointed director at Hacon Containers. With more than 25 years of experience in the logistics sector, including 17 years at Hacon Containers, Frank is the ideal person to succeed Ronald, who is taking a well-deserved step back after his 65th birthday.
Frank is known for his committed leadership and passion for innovation. Upon his appointment, he said: “The best thing about Hacon is the combination of innovation and collaboration. Here, we make a difference together.”
Yuri Roos, director at Hacon Container Modifications
At the same time, Joeri Roos was appointed director at Hacon Container Modifications (HCM). Joeri has had an impressive career at Hacon: he started as an assistant mechanic and is now director. His knowledge of the shop floor and his leadership skills make him an indispensable link in the success of HCM. Joeri emphasized: “I want to continue to build on the quality and creativity of our container modifications. Innovation is in our DNA.”
Our innovation for 2024: the Hacon Tribune Container
Last year, we introduced the Hacon Solar Container. This innovative container is almost unbeatable, but we continue to do our best to offer new container solutions for every industry. Perhaps a little less technical, but certainly just as welcome, is our Tribune Container. This smart and flexible container solution provides (temporary) seating for events and sports matches. This way, you are always dry and comfortable.
Our brand-new director Frank has been closely involved in the production process of the grandstand container. In 2024, everyone will contribute to innovation within Hacon, from operational staff to management.
Harbour Run edition 11
The Harbour Run remains a highlight of our year. On October 6, we were back at the starting line of this challenging obstacle run through the port of Rotterdam with an enthusiastic team of colleagues. Some participated, while others provided the necessary encouragement as supporters. All in all, it was another wonderful, athletic, and enjoyable highlight that also allowed us to support a good cause. The feeling of exercising together and contributing together made it another unforgettable day.
Hacon goes international
2024 was also marked by international growth. Our colleague Simeon, offshore specialist and travel enthusiast, visited several major trade fairs worldwide on behalf of Hacon. He flew to Houston and Kuala Lumpur for the Offshore Technology Conference, but was also closer to home at the Belgian Offshore Days in Ostend. These were great highlights that generated a lot of international publicity. And, of course, experiences that Simeon will not soon forget.
The charities of 2024
At Hacon, we believe it is important to give something back to society. Just like last year, we are proud to be the adoption partner of Soma, the red panda at Blijdorp Zoo. And last year, we received some exciting news from Blijdorp. No fewer than two red pandas were born at the zoo!
We also contributed to animal welfare by raising €5.000 for the Animal Ambulance Foundation. Thanks to the efforts of our colleagues during the Harbor Run, they can continue their important work. A Hacon highlight that we are very proud of every year!

Another year has passed. Together with colleagues, families, and partners, we continue to experience more and more highlights, create wonderful memories, and achieve (international) successes. Together, we are making Hacon stronger, more innovative, and more united than ever. We look forward to a promising 2025!
