This was also the case with the construction of the Mammoet SK6000, the most powerful land crane in the world. Hacon Containers played a key role in the construction of this crane by supplying specially designed ballast containers. These containers are not only functional, but also contribute directly to the stability and success of the crane, a feat that once again underlines Hacon's expertise in customized solutions.

A world record in the making

Hacon Containers made an essential contribution to the construction of the Mammoet SK6000, the largest and most powerful land crane in the world. The crane is designed to lift loads of up to 3,000 tons to a height of 220 meters.

40 dual-purpose ballast containers

Hacon supplied a total of 40 40-foot hard top containers, which fulfill a dual role within the project. They are used both for transporting crane parts and for the ballast system of the SK6000 itself. Thanks to this versatility, they form an important part of the crane's modular design.

When the containers are used as ballast, the maximum weight is 100,000 kg per container, together accounting for an impressive ballast capacity of 4,000 tons.

Tested strenght and reliability

To meet Mammoet's extreme requirements, all containers were subjected to extensive load tests. Each container was loaded to 125 tons, using a combination of sand and ballast blocks. These tests confirm the structural strength, durability, and safety of the containers under maximum load.

The project highlights Hacon's technical expertise in designing, modifying, and supplying containers for heavy industrial applications. Each container is tailored to the specific requirements of the crane and its ballast configuration, with precision, safety, and reliability being paramount.
