All-Around Operations Employee / Forklift Operator (full-time)

At Hacon Group, everything revolves around containers. From sales and rental to modifications and logistics: we take care of it. Every day, containers arrive at and leave our depots in the Port of Rotterdam, heading to customers and projects around the world.

For our operational activities, we are looking for an All-round Operations Employee / Forklift Operator. Someone who enjoys working with machinery but doesn’t want to limit themselves to simply loading and unloading containers. You are a hands-on person who, together with the team, makes sure the entire depot runs smoothly, safely, and according to schedule.

What will you do?

A significant part of your job will involve moving, loading, and unloading containers using a forklift / empty handler. You make sure containers are positioned correctly and ready for transport on time.

But your job doesn’t stop there…

If there are no containers to move, you might help inspect and prepare containers, keep the depot and surrounding area tidy, or take on other tasks that need to be done at that moment.

We are therefore specifically not looking for someone who only wants to operate a forklift / empty handler. We are looking for someone who enjoys being broadly involved in our operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Loading and unloading containers onto and from trailers.
• Checking the correct positioning and registration of containers according to the planning.
• Inspecting containers upon arrival.
• Preparing containers for current and new bookings.
• Cleaning containers and preparing them for transport.
• Maintaining order, cleanliness, and safety at the depot.
• Carrying out and taking on general maintenance and yard-related tasks.

What are we looking for?

• We are looking for someone who likes to roll up their sleeves and doesn’t think: “That’s not part of my job.”
• You work safely and accurately, but can also switch quickly when the planning changes. You enjoy working independently, but are equally comfortable working together with colleagues and drivers on the depot.
• This position is a good fit for someone with experience as an operations employee, forklift operator, empty handler operator, yard operative, depot employee, container handler, or logistics employee.

In addition:

• You have a forklift / empty handler certificate or are willing to obtain one.
• You have a VCA certificate or are willing to obtain one.
• You have a valid driving licence (category B).
• You work safely and carefully and are aware of what is happening around you.
• You are practically minded and can identify what needs to be done without being asked.
• You are comfortable combining different operational tasks throughout the day.
• You have a good command of Dutch, both written and spoken.
• And last but not least… you have a good sense of humour.
