Logistics Coordinator (full-time – 40 hours per week)

For our international procurement and logistics operations, we are looking for a Logistics Coordinator. Someone who keeps a clear overview, can switch quickly between different priorities and gets energy from international transport flows and logistical challenges.

What will you do?

As a Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for the worldwide transportation and positioning of newbuild shipping containers for Hacon Group.

You will ensure that containers are transported efficiently from factories and suppliers to the right sales, rental or stock locations. To achieve this, you will be in daily contact with shipping lines, forwarders, depots, traders, suppliers and other logistics partners around the world.

You will monitor the progress of shipments, resolve operational issues and ensure that procurement, logistics and sales are properly aligned.

You will work closely with the Tactical Buyer. Although you will each have your own primary responsibilities, your activities are closely connected. You will actively share knowledge and information, keep each other informed about ongoing agreements and processes, and be able to temporarily take over each other’s responsibilities when needed.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating and optimising logistics processes.
• Organising and coordinating the worldwide transportation of containers.
• Organising worldwide one-way container transports.
• Preparing, checking and processing transport contracts and transportation agreements.
• Optimising container positioning and international container flows.
• Maintaining and expanding relationships with shipping lines, forwarders, depots and logistics partners.
• Requesting and comparing transport rates and transportation options.
• Monitoring bookings, transport schedules, delivery times and arrivals.
• Coordinating transport with procurement, sales, suppliers and customers.
• Identifying delays, bottlenecks and unnecessary logistics costs.
• Supporting your procurement colleague with operational and international matters.
• Temporarily taking over procurement activities in the absence of your colleague.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who can work independently, keeps a clear overview and can easily switch between different parties, time zones and transport flows.

You remain calm when schedules change, think ahead and quickly find suitable solutions. You have strong communication skills and understand how the different parts of the international logistics chain are interconnected.

In addition:

• This position is a good fit for someone with experience as a Logistics Coordinator, Shipping Coordinator, Transport Coordinator, Freight Forwarder or Supply Chain Coordinator.
• You have experience organising and managing international transport.
• You have an affinity with shipping containers, transport and international cargo flows.
• You are able to effectively compare transport rates, routes and logistics options.
• You are strong in planning, coordinating and monitoring progress.
• You have a good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
• You are willing to travel internationally several times a year to maintain relationships and establish new contacts.
• You work accurately, keep a clear overview and think in terms of commercial solutions.
